Look at our cool dad!!

Sam and a co-worker decided to race a duathlon this last Saturday. Sam rode the technical mountain bike course and Jason trail ran it. They had to stop along the way to participate in several obstacles. We all took the trip up to Smithville (no one who lives in Texas knows were it is either), to cheer our dad on. (Get ready for TONS of pictures!)

Yes that is a rock in Beckam's mouth. They're just baby teeth right?

The pre-race activities included playing with rocks, sticks, traffic cones, dirt, and getting a few rides on dad's bike.

And they're off...

so we went to find more dirt, sticks, rocks, and potential hazards.

We walked out a little ways on the trail and let the kids play. Sam and Jason got back much quicker than we thought they would. I snapped a few pictures as they headed for the finish line. They both said the trail was really technical (unlike this here), and despite what they thought before starting the bike actually proved to be a liability in a lot of the really rocky, steep sections!

We then followed after, the boys were excited to see their dads.

They took 2nd place overall and 1st in their division! They did awesome!

They also won 1st prize in one of the obstacles. They did good on most of them, but got a big bag full of fortune cookies for being fastest at carrying cookies through a course with chopsticks.

Fishing

While we were at Bass Pro Shop dad got a new fishing pole and a fishing license. It was kinda cold and really windy but it didn't keep Isaac and Sam from going out fishing, while Beckam was napping and mom was cleaning. They got skunked, but they had fun anyway. They even saw some boys catch a big turtle, but then they didn't know what to do so Sam had to unhook it for them, and he dove back into the water. Isaac though it was pretty cool and told us all about it when they got home.

An early start to our 1st Texas Christmas

Last Saturday we took the boys to our local Bass Pro Shop to see Santa. They had there pictures taken and for the first year Isaac didn't cry but was totally excited and even told him what he wanted for Christmas. Beckam on the other hand is still a little scared of Santa and the whole family had to be in his picture with him. They had all sorts of fun Christmas for the boys to see.

And of course it's Bass Pro Shop so there were some shooting games.

Look at this tree they have as you come into the store it is covered with taxidermy. The boys thought it was pretty cool.

Kayaking and the Beach

We have the best dad ever he still takes us to do way fun things even though it now just takes us a little longer to get there. On Saturday he took us down to Corpus Christi to kayak and play at the beach. The boys did awesome on the drive down and back. And it was great weather and tons of fun. We all can't wait to go again. The only crappy part of the whole trip was that after taking about three pictures the camera started to blink at me that the battery was low. So I was sad we didn't get more pictures and the ones we got weren't fabulous because we were just trying to hurry and not use too much battery.

Out on the water. It was really cool there were fish jumping out of the water everywhere, and lost of big pretty birds. The boys loved it.

We found this blind out in the water and the boys had to check it out. Isaac said that this was his favorite part at dinner that night. The boys were really excited when mom was able to paddle back to get them. Dad was just impressed with her skill.

We made it to the beach. Sam let me lay on the beach and relax for a little while and he took the boys to dig in the sand.

Isaac and Beckam's room

So we did the boys room back in September and I have been meaning to put pictures up for just as long. But on Sunday night when Beckam who has still been sleeping a crib decided he wanted to use his big boy bed slept in his and Isaac's room it motivated me to actually take some pictures. Sunday night went pretty good. Monday night was pretty bad. Then last night was awesome. He slept in there all night did not make a sound or get up or anything until I could hear him on the monitor this morning making a little noise. I went up to find him just getting some books out to read in his "roof roof" bed. There are dogs on his sheets. Isaac fell asleep in our guest bedroom last night after Sam read him stories in there so Beckam was solo last night. I hope we can repeat the good sleeping even when Isaac is in there too.

Their bed are ones that my dad and his brothers used when they were little and some of my brothers used when they were little too which makes it kinda fun. I was excited when we got to finally put up the national park poster that Isaac got last year for Christmas. Sam made the frames for me, I love how they turned out.

Okay so I have to say this Halloween was well weird. And not just because of the weather. I missed taking the boys to see all there great-grandparents that are in Utah the week of Halloween. I missed trick-or-treating were you open the door and get to see all your cute friends and their kids from your ward. Most of all I missed our families. We always visit both of them on Halloween and take the boys trick-or-treating in the neighborhoods we grew up in so we can show them off. I know a lot of this is my fault I could have tried to plan a more exciting this Halloween. I guess I'll remember that for next year, and make some mental notes for better planning around Christmas this year.

Bottom line we miss you all in Utah!!!
